Site visits to Wirra Wonga and Pilyu Yarta natural burial grounds happen in week 2 of the Eco Coffin Project. Wirra Wonga is a Kaurna term meaning ‘bush grave’. Pilyu Yarta is a Kaurna term meaning ‘peaceful ground’. Both natural burial grounds are in metropolitan Adelaide and are managed by Adelaide Cemeteries. Adelaide Cemeteries are a major sponsor of the Eco Coffin Project and warmly welcome us with behind-the-scenes tours of the crematorium and natural burial grounds.
